hehe me and arikevin have to thank you lots .... if not both of us will end of deal pixcel camera :D
We are very lucky and glad to meet Adrian, a very kind soul here. :)

Let me answer the questions here for arikevin..

Wont mention the shop that we got it from. But basically I would say if you are really wanting to get a D70, you can get it from any shop. Not necessarily Cathay, or Alan, or MS or Lords.. or.. ??

The minimum selling price that Nikon has told all it dealer to sell at is 2100.00 SGD with 5% GST.

1. As for dead pixels.. this is a common problem with LCD's. It happens on Laptop LCD's, TV LCD and all other kind of LCD's. You can check for dead pixels by 2 test.. one the dark test. With the lens cap on.. fire a dark shot.. do a preview you will see bright blue spots if there are dead pixels or white spots.. next is the other way round.. fire an over exposed shot and make sure all pixels are clear and lighted up.

2. CCD clean test. Attach a lens, but the camera is P mode.. but your aperture to f/22 and fired a test shot on a white surface. If you have dust or dirt on your CCD.. it will turn up.

There is lots of stock in the market.. it is a matter if you know how to bargain and do you testing.

Get a seasoned photographer to come down with you to help you out.. Good luck and have fun..

Hi all,

I'm currently holding on to a Canon "prosumer", and I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to the D70, due to it's limitations. As it's my first DSLR, arikevin's experience here have made me a little worried about getting a set with Dead P****..... ...a few questions, arikevin, which i hope you can help me out :

1. From which shop did you get your D70 today ?
2. Any more stocks left ? if no, when are they coming in ?
3. Any idea what's the serial number of the set with the Dead P**** ??
4. What's the price ??

Anyway........Feedback that I have received from both local and foreign Forums on the D70 have been pretty POSITIVE, other than arikevin's little episode today !!

I'm hoping to get it within the week, if there are any more left in the stores... :D

Thanks in advance for the advice and help rendered !!

Can't wait to switch camps !!!
I got it from a few shops away from CP. I advise you not to get D70 from there because they have only left 1 set and that was the set with dead pixel on the LCD screen. We got ours there because the owner got it from ***deleted*** (which I think they have good relationship with).

For the serial number, I am not sure which one because we can't be bothered about it as we assume they are going to send to Nikon anyway but they told us that we were "lucky" to test the dead pixel one. :bsmilie:

Best is get your camera from CP and test it throughly. Remember to take ur time. If you are gonna get it from other shop, just walk if they pressurise you when you are checking. :)
