Hello clubsnapper

I been shooting digital about 1.5years and now i just bought a canon F-1 intending to shoot B&W. But i dont know what film to start with or what precaution if i shoot film. It would be good if you guys can help me recommend B&W film to start. :)

you can find some information here.... kodak TriX is one of the most popular BnW films and is readily available in some of the local shops here.

For C41 processing B&W, there's two options in the market. Ilford XP2 and Kodak BW400CN. I much prefers Ilford with its nice grains and contrast. Kodak is good if you like your pics to have low grains but I find the pics a bit flat. Highly recommend Ilford. Basically, C41 means you can process it like normal color negatives. I go Konota to develop for 30mins. Very fast if you're not ready to go into self-development.

Normal B&W development will be manual processing and so far only Fotohub does it. Most of the color labs will send to Fotohub to process, so they will take a couple of days. If you go straight to Fotohub main office in Commonwealth, you can get it in 3 hours. Same for slides (positive) E6 processing.

if you plan to do self scanning then color film works just as fine just convert into b/w. Down side is that they don't keep well Compare to ture b/w film
