Saw some very nice camera backpacks and hip-bags at the Jack Wolfskin store while I was in Germany recently. Though the range for camera gear is rather small, I feel that their quality is comparable to Lowepro.

Anyone know where I can find Jack Wolfskin in Singapore. :dunno: Tired of going around with the same old Lowepro that everyone else has!

army market.

i got my 30L for 30bucks 2 years back.

Army market - Do you mean the shops above Beach Road Food Centre?

I have a backpack by that same brand. Its durable enough to go through some of the more ruggard terrain. As for the camera bags, not too sure about them. I got my backpack at the Sport Connection. That shop sells all kind of backpacks.

Forgot to add. While you saw it in Germany, the bag is actually made in Vietnam if I'm not wrong....hahah

correct... i have friends who went to vietnam and bought jack wolfskin bag 80L for less than 100 bucks... forgot how less.. .that was also 2 years ago..

yes.. army market ... but you gotta walk around and do your own searching and bargain for your best price...

I saw some Jack Wolfskin packs at Beach Road. The quality doesn't look real. In Europe, Jack Wolfskin's are sold through exclusive shops (including apparels, bags, accessories). Yes, J.W. is a German brand but I don;t expect the goods to be made in Germany. They are all made in Asia, same as any other major brands.

I bought a photo belt pack in Germany. I feel that the JW design is better than Lowepro Specialist 85 AW.

I'm not how's the quality, built and feel of the Jack Wolfskin camera bag. But for outdoor gear, especially those bigger than 70L, JW's bag is already heavy, even when it's empty. Northface will be better bet, IMHO.

Anyway, I'm using Northface daypack, stuffed with 2 lowepro lens pouch (1W size), and 1 big lens pouch (can fit in nikkor 80-200 or 300mm f/4), attached to the bottom of my bag, horizontally. The body, I don't mount with lens, put inside accesories pouch that I got from my lowepro Compact AW (F100 without vertical grip can be fit in). Haha not really a good idea, but at least my bag look different when go for outing :D

OK, all jack wolfskin bag you see in beach rd army market are fake!

how to determine it's fake and wat is fake?

Told by an importer of JW bags.
(hope someone can verify)

1) e fake claws of e logo are much longer than e real.

2) e real embodiery of logo are smoother and not jagged

3) original buckers are all made by campany called duraflex, which have duraflex printed in it

4) others will include e inner sewing and e water proof material.

heard that some reputable shops in shopping centres also sell fake ones so be careful.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert, just what i heard. Hope its correct.

those in beach rd are all fake... the uncle selling admitted to me. i very old customer already.

in fact, from what i last heard. there is no jack wolfskin distributor in singapore.

lol.. thnx for the inputs...

haiz... :dunno: :dunno:

Right, I have checked the JW website. The only Asian country with an authorised JW distributor is Japan. You may find a limited range of JW in highend camping gear outlets.

It's easy to tell a fake. Look at the material , the harness and the stitching on the bag. Even if they are manufactured in Vietnam or Romania, the material is much thicker and stitching is very strong and even. No loose threads.

You can also tell from the price. If you are offered $30 for a 30L pack, it is probably not the real thing. :bsmilie: You can find the price in Euro on the Jack Wolfskin website. Those are the exact price I saw in the JW Boutiques in Germany.

Hmm did not know that. Anyhow, the quality of the bag is not exceptional. However, it has survived a couple of rugged trips already. So for that price (cheap), I have no gripes, anyhow, its just for transporting clothes from point A to B. But if its for camera equipment, that a different ball game altogether
