Dear mods, plse consider including the itrader function in this forum. With the itrader ratings, potential sellers or buyers will gave a good feel of who they are dealing with. Of course this is not 100% secure but it will help. Plse consider my suggestion. Jim

we had. but it has an administrative headache and it caused a slowdown of the servers, iirc

Another local forum SG-ROC (Rolex Forum)
has been using it for a long time. I am active in this forum and the itrader is a very useful guide for all members especially in the market place where we buy and sell
watches. Hope we can sort out the technical issues. Anyway, just a suggestion to improve the forum and "prevent" members from being "played out" by nasty people. Of course never 100 % but helpful.

abuse can occur, and members with negative ratings can simply re-register a new account IMO

IIRC, the problems were:

a) (most serious) server slowdowns and occasional crashes - this was the main reason given by our Admins when the iTrader was taken offline. and yeah, CS servers do crash pretty often a couple of years ago especially at nite, for those who have been ard long enuf will remember.

b) abuse by sellers - some 'newbie' sellers (this was before the time of mass-seller registering) make multiple accounts to 'buy-sell' with himself/herself and giving himself/herself positive ratings quickly in order to create a 'good' image, albeit a false one before pulling off a scam. this was an admin headache to police because of the sheer number of posts per day in buy/sell.

c) abuse by buyers - i dun think i need to explain this bah.... :sweatsm:

the iTrader was a great idea, IMO. but the implementation was more trouble than wat it was worth.

How about allowing Members who are at least 1 week old & have 50 post before they are allow to post a thread at BS?
