Have u guys ever missed any shots that could have been a great picture just because u forgot about something?

Recently on my trip to malacca, a young boy was sitting by the stairs of this very old temple. Surrounding him was a very high human traffic flow and i felt it was a very nice opportunity since i can shoot with slower aperture to have him sharp and motion blur ard him...

Everything was set according..the subject didnt move...finally when i press the shutter speed......i realised that i didnt remove the lens cap! It was all too late for me to retake the shot again!

The 2nd time was when i was camping at this spot waiting for the right subject to move into my frame...and when i finally spot one...i couldnt shutter off....becos im shooting on a R2A..and the battery was not sufficient for triggering the curtains although the meter works...

I'm pretty sure everyone has such experiences....

In my recent trip to Malacca... was waiting for quite a while for a suitable subject to come into my frame against a red wall.... then my friend asked me to take a picture of her using her compact camera... and a exotic looking old man dressed totally in red on a red bicycle just cycled past...... Waited for quite a bit after that at the same locale, but nothing turned up...

Just have to suck it up and move on to making other great pictures!

Use a hood and forget about the lens cap during shooting...

Me too, I put my lens cap in my dry box when I bring my rangefinder camera out to shoot... Anyway, I can't put the lens cap on without removing the hood... That's the reason why.. :)

Thanks for the advice..think the next round, im going to leave the lens cap at home! haha

Why bother to put on lens cap when u know you're trying to shoot street? Let the UV filter worry about protecting the lens!!! I only put the lens cap back on when I take a break.

+1 for SLR.SG chairman! ;p

My lenses all have no lens cap, lens cap are all kept at home, too precious to be lost outside!

herm...i have resorted to using hood without a filter. after i discovered some of pictures had increased flare....

Life is not perfect; it should never be.

Mistakes happen. There was this photographer who was shooting on a new test-batch of film for a year, and it turned out that the early production units were messed up. He lost a thousand or so pictures.

Can't be that bad eh.

I personally do not use a lens cap. The only time the lens cap is on my lens is when it is in the dry-box.

Buy a good filter and keep it on 24/7. If by any chance it gets damaged, just replace it.

I use both lens hood and filter to protect the lens. It works pretty well with the newer lenses especially with the large attached hoods.

Yeh, happened to me a couple of times and it's frustrating.
Nowadays, i don't even bring my lens cap out with me anymore, i just leave it at home. It's also safer as i have dropped it at least once and had to retrace my steps to find it, it was trampled on a few times, and it's a good thing that it did not drop into a hole or drain!

The hood and lens filter is enough protection.
