Is the GX-1 = G3 without EVF?

The new range of Panasonic cameras have the exact same function as well. VF shooting a dead giveaway then huh?

Invisibility is a state of mind.

I shoot mainly with rangefinders and surprise surprise...an iPhone. Both have delivered to me what I need and that's purely because I don't let my gear define my behavior. Practice with being calm in front of people first before you plop some serious dough on a camera. Got friends that hate the rangefinder experience but love the X100. Could look into that too :)

My advice for an available light camera would be M4/3 for daytime. I'd take the GX-1 :)

Panasonic Singapore replied on Facebook and there are indeed some differences in the processing engine like you've mentioned.

"there are some improvements from G3 for the GX1, such as NR, colour reproduction, image quality, as well as the focusing speed."

Although, real world differences (if any), remains to be seen.

The new Venus Engine is the key, with proprietary black box technology. There is 3 CPU on the Venus engine doing processing, with new 3D NR for noise reduction as well as color reproduction as compared to G3.

Wow, thanks for the explanation! I'm just glad i decided to wait for the GX1 instead of committing to a G3. 20th Dec can't come quick enough!

Hi hi I am in hong kong now and considering if I should buy the gx-1x here for about s$1188 with 14-42 x lens.

International warranty says the man but I read somewhere in our forum that panasonic Singapore does not recognize this.

What shall I do? Is the gx-1 really in the stores on 20 Dec???

Maybe you should check carefully with the stores in hk to confirm the warranty.

My source told me 20th dec, and most of the time its correct. Price in sgp for streetprice should be similar to hk.

Salesman not being truthful or is unaware of Panasonic Singapore policy. Only oly is international.

Not sure if this has been mentioned

Alot of people are buying the GX-1 here in Hong Kong because it has a max ISO of 12800 vs the 6400 of the G3. Not sure how usable 12800 is going to be but it is currently the highest available for a m43 camera I think.

My GH2 has max ISO of 12800. And it was released end of 2010. One year ahead of gx1.

Do u know that for a fact or u r just assuming? Have u seen the international warranty card and the terms shown?
