Is OM-D E-M1 MARK II the video camera of the future?

They got everything except low light?

Can't win them all. Would love to see in future tests. its:

continous AF performance in video mode
IBIS in locked, panning, and walking shots
low light perfornance
flat profile samples.

Not too hopeful about video AF as it has always been a weakness of M43.

Having a guess, I'd say the low light performance of the new sensor is going to be a heck of a lot cleaner than Olympus cameras in the past simply because of the higher res video capabilities. Especially if you're delivering in Full HD, I reckon the noise is going to be insignificantly small to see - hence appearing cleaner at higher ISO.

For me, most important will be low light performance and the AF speed/accuracy especially when subject is moving.

20M, 4K video are all a PLUS (ie good to have for me).

Right now, that will take 2 cameras to fulfill.

Low light- Sony
Video AF - Canon
IBIS - Olympus
No record time limit - Panasonic

Interesting to see which company will be the first to combine all 4 features.
in the meantime, either prioritise or carry multiple systems.
Weigh your options to overcome limitations of each brand.
Sony A7s I/II ( AF weak but clean ISO) - stop down to increase DOF
Canon 80d - (no IBIS,crushed blacks) OIS lens/gimbal?faster lenses
Olympus EM5/1 (limited usable ISO range) speedbooster
Panasonic GH4 (no ibis) use only OIS lenses for handheld.

GH5 will cover most of it.
- Good AF
- IBIS
- Alot of fast lens
- 4k in 422 10bit
- Most prob clean ISO usable til 3200

The only thing it doesn't have is a physical limit which is ISO + DOF.
M43 cannot ever fight FF's light intake so ISO will never be as good.
M43 also will never have (example) a 24 F1.4 (To have that u need a 12mm F0.8?, which even if have won't have AF) and also never a super wide like 12-24mm F4 (equivalent to 6mm F2) type of lens.

But these features are not used by all videographers so it can be dealbreaker for some but a killer camera for others. I personally have the GH4 & i think i'll get the GH5 for corp work & indie films which it is great at. For weddings, i think A7S2 or 5D/80D/C100 might be a better choice due to Lowlight & DOF.

Something very wrong with "octopus" pricing strategy here - if true.
How can a m43 cam price higher than a apsc ?

Sensor size not a major price determinant. Otherwise FS5 should be cheaper than A7s.

There is some serious lack of rolling shutter in this video. Video guys might be more interested then they originally thought!

Dynamic range is also very impressive! Very convincing for people who wish to grade their footage. Marked improvement over EM5 mark2.
The headphone port is a bonus.

Shot hand held. Wow! The stabiliser is really so good. Sony, your move next....

Actually, I wouldn't draw that conclusion from such promo vids. The result is lovely, no doubt, but we have no idea how many years experience those hands have had... haha. The result could very well be attributed to 20% stabilizer + 80% operator's skill and experience. ;p

check out the walking shots 7:54

I'm doing the review, can check it out, I'll certainly shoot some videos but I'm not as skilled and experienced as some guys here I'm sure of that, but if I can get decent results, you know what you can get ;)
