Is it ok to store the body+lenses and the extras inside an air tight container with sillicon gel?
My pocket's pretty burnt from buying my nikon d80 and I can't afford to buy a dry cabinet now.

yes, you can,
but you will eventually upgrade to dry cabinet one day.

just make sure when the selica gel changes colour you heat to up to remove the moisture

It is simple and easy
Keep a watchful over the hydration status. You can try to hairdryer the silica when needed. Safer than heating in ur own microwave for food :bsmilie:
