is it card error

Dear All,
I need to seek some advice. I use a Scandisk Ultra II 2.0 GB CF card for my D200. When I open the pictures using PictureProject, there is a remark that reads " Unknown Error DSC ####", I cannot do anything to those pictures.

Previously, I had used the same card on my D70s but it was OK. I hope it is not an problem at my cam body. What may have caused this error message?

What do you use to read the card? D200 or card reader?

And, is it Sandisk or Scandisk?

oops, sorry, it is Sandisk. I use a card reader.

I did not format the card. Is it necessary? I'll try doing it..

if u do now, u probably lose ur images.

am not exactly sure but is the norm to format the card when changing between cameras.

Thanks, i did the formating yesterday, using the camera. I removed all the pictures prior to that, connect the cam direct to my laptop. It works!

Glad you solve the problem.

May I add some of my finding:
- Some PC card reader (I've got this problem with external combo card reader + USB hub) give wrong reading or writing to the card. Problem when formating, reading, or writing file (especially big files) to the card. Problem solved when I return to my old only card reader (without USB hub).
- Format card using camera prior its usage as it will set/format the card correctly like what the camera want it to be.
