IR on the KM5D ... Cannot do Custom White Balance

Hi,

Just tried taking IR pixs using my KM5D. Any brothers here tried before ... cannot get to do Custom White Balance on the 5D ... did I miss anything?

Actually, you did miss something ..... KM5D and KM7D has a IR filter inside them, thus they cannot record IR Spectrum accurately. .

Actually, you did miss something ..... KM5D and KM7D has a IR filter inside them, thus they cannot record IR Spectrum accurately. .

Can do IR, please explore further....:sticktong !!!

Actually 5D can do IR but Not 7D according to a thread I read in dpreview. 5D does not have the reflection prob and IR produced as opposed to what 7D is having. What's exactly your prob of white balance? Cannot record or what?

If my memory did serve me correctly, my S602z also say " error white balance" when doing the custom white balance. I got the it to record it anyway though it said "error" and continue shooting and it gave me the right RED "IR" color and process in PS to reverse color channels to get the IR look. Thats the way it should be when I learnt about the instruction in IR forum.

Is that the same prob you are facing? Maybe you should post the problem in IR forum.

Anyway, my problem in not able to perform CWB is as discussed in your thread itself below

... with the R72 on, it is so dark that the 5D's CWB procedure as outlined in the manual fails. In your thread, rOnGeRn and d4nie have some suggested steps. I'll try those out and post my findings.
