Infrared film

Anyone knows any secret place where I can get my hands on that coveted Kodak Aerochrome colour infrared 120 film, or any other type of colour infrared film that is decent?

There is only one coloured IR film and your best bet is eBay now.

the last few prices on ebay for one roll of Aerochrome Color Infrared Film - 120 format EIR Kodak is around US$$90. if you are willing to pay that kind of price, i can sell you my last roll at the same price :)

I don't believe I have to pay so much for it!! One day on my travels I will stumble upon an old shop which happens to have one last, dusty roll of it lying around!

Aerochome was never made in 120 format officially, it was hand cut by the guy, Dean Bennici into 120. It is similar to slide film, so the infrared sensitization will be weaker over time. Try it as soon as you can get your hands on it, else it will be another Kodachrome story.

A video that talks about it. http://vimeo.com/85033157

Oooo I never knew the 120 was all hand cut. No wonder it's so precious! Do I have to take note of anything special when shooting IR colour film, or is it just like shooting slides? Also, what type of colours should I shoot in order to get the best IR effect in the developed photos? Green?

The recommended filter is yellow or orange filter for the aerochome film. In a brightsun light environment, the nominal ISO is 400 with filter on. If you want to capture the most IR radiance, it will be objects that reflects IR radiation and that happens to be green leaves on trees. Its not green objects which you were referring to. A green colour building will not give that effect. There are other objects as well, but it may not be as pronounced as trees. Below are two images taken on aerochome film (with orange filter) and slide film (E100VS), you can see what colours they are mapped to. Enjoy and have fun.
