Guys,

Just bought a brand new in box lens from a fellow collector in Singapre. I know this is a ltd production model that was produced for Japan Lemon Camera back in the late 90's. I can't seem to find much information about this lens other than a few threads here n there about it.

Does anyone else has this lens and whether you can provide more info and review on it? Understand that this is ver 3 lux and the true pre-asph. It has a E46 filter size and comes with a Leica LTM-M adaptor. I can't find info. on the focusing distance but some online forums suggested that it's 0.9m vs. the regular ver. 3 and the Millenina BP version of 0.7m.

The lens is super mint and kept in the dry box the last decade. No dust, haze, fungus etc at all. Now my chrome M8 is complete with a chrome lens.

Here's a pics of my current lenses. I've got the 35 Summicron v4 (Bokeh King) for wider angle, a Canon 50 f1.4 LTM and a Canon 50 f1.2 LTM in pretty good condition. As you can see, I love fifties!!!

Here's my lenses. On the left is my 50 Summilux-R that I used on my Canon 5dm2 and Leica R4s.

Here's a pic of me taken by the seller. Love the bokeh which I find creamier and soothing.

Guys,

....... Love the bokeh which I find creamier and soothing.

Congrats!
If you love creamy bokeh, you need the Naughtilux f1.0 or Fujinon5.0cmf1.2.:devil::angel:

Bro, now I just need to find the time to take photos with these lenses. I must do them justice. :-) Though it's a good feeling that I have the chance to acquire some of these nice gems.

Nice lens, would like to ask you about the 2 Canons, which do you like better? I;m using the f1.4, was wondering about the f1.2

from what i understand, there was a 1999 release of leica LTM lenses for 35cron asph, 50cron and 50lux pre-asph in chrome. they were limited production and only available in the japanese market.

i think the 50lux jap chrome should also be with 0.7m min focusing, with the same optical formular as the regular built-in hood model that started in the middle of the 1990s.

Bro, didn't really get the chance to really put two lens to test side by side, but the f1.2 (a much cleaner piece) has very smooth ball-like bokeh which I like. @f1.4, I can't tell them apart. I like the size of the f1.4 vs f1.2 though. I do like the f1.2 more.

You can see some pics taken with this lens on my Flickr.

Here's a quick shot.

Here's one of my wife and baby girl. It has the nippon glow.

This LTM 50 Lux has a min. focusing distance of 1m, just like any original LTM lenses intended for the Barnack cameras. Same for the other two Jap LTM CRONs. (used to have these but all gone now.)

Other than the additional weight, the "new" LTM 50 Lux is effectively reduced to an V2/3, due to the min. distance of 1m. It has never become a hot collector item, despite the low production quantity. IIRC, there was one example of it parked at Prime Camera for a long time (price ~$3K ?) but no taker. Ever wonder why?

Anyway, enjoy your new toy and most importantly, take some nice pixs with it (not of it).

Cheers,

YOL

Thanks for the info. I DO intend to take pics with it.

IMHO, the minus point of E43 is 1m close focus, of E46 version is bigger size.
This version has both and more expensive :dunno:

Now you should have a screw mount camera to enjoy its advantage  Another poison

Saw 2 minty copies of this sitting on the shelves at MAP camera in Tokyo 2 months back for around 90k yen each. (1350sgd approx)... Great lens for your LTM camera if you don't mind the FD.

$1350 sounds very reasonable, a CS-er offered me a minty piece at $3k but I did not buy as I thought it was somewhat too expensive for the lens. :)

Well, no offense to the chaps here at CS, but stuff on the classifieds here tend to be over inflated in price and reputation.

On fleabay (ebay) in the US, i've seen it go for around 1.5ksgd or so from collectors with the box, Japanese papers, and a special editioned LTM adapter, so i think 1.3-1.4sgd would be a good ballpark price to pay for a mint & dustless copy without the works. Nice lens nonetheless

None taken. There's a seller and there's always someone willing to buy. The chap who sold me is a cool guy and I've bought a few lenses from him. Not cheap but the conditions are usually mint or brand new. I love the lens!!!
