iMac ~ Quad Core!

The specs of my computer used for editing, and it can out do a MAC. :)

1. AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Processor
2. MSI 790FX-GD70 Motherboard
3. PC3 17600 DDR3 LV 2200 MHz CL9 (2*2GB) X 2 DDR RAM
4.SAPPHIRE HD 5670 1GB GDDR5 PCIE (Crossfire) X2 Graphics Card
5. WD Caviar Green SATA Hard Drives 1.5 TB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache (Mirror)
6. LG BH08LS20 Optical Storage
7. LG W2261VP-PF X 2

and to top it off with CoolerMaster Gladiator 600 Casing, UCP 700W Power Supply and Hyper N620 cooling system. I think it's time AMD should have it's lime light instead of the usual Intel in my opinion. ;)

iMac + Aperture 3 is a perfect combination for editing photos! :)

I am loving every moment with my iMac, a 24" one. Maybe should have just try to survive on my PB 15" during that time.
Its so much easier to use than a Windoze and its almost virus free.

Yeha, the main reason to go to mac is Final Cut Pro. Its sort of the industry standard as many editors use this.

That said, if its possible, save up for a mac pro. If not, just stick with the imac or build your own hackintosh. One nice monitor for video editing would be the new Dell 27inch ultra sharp. Same resolution as the imac's screen(2560x1440) and ips panel for about 1.1k. great value if you ask me.

I'm lookin at the new iMac 27 quad-core i7. Price is near 3.3k after upgrading from i5 to i7. If the Dell 27" IPS monitor costs about 1.1k, it means the iMac system (minus monitor) itself costs ard 2.2k. Remove another $300-$400 for the OS Snow Leopard (Win 7 Home is selling at ard $300+), the hardware of the iMac costs ard 1.8k.

I think a PC setup with the same kind of specs will costs ard 1.3-1.5k? If that's the case I think iMac is not very highly price against PC. Still worth to get?

I think still not comparable... can the IPS monitor match iMAC screen? if can, then I think can begin to compare.

Imac is abt space saving with enough power to run most jobs you chuck in.

Its just a computer guys. At the end of the day, if i have to stare at something for 8 or more hour a day, i think apple has the look i am looking for.

I am using 2 x 24" imac and i dont think i am faster than the machine at the moment so i dont see how it limits my potential. Other might find it limiting but i put through roughly 60-80gb of data every week for last 2 years and still work great.

At the end, it all depends on what u want rather then what we think as we all are different.

27" imac certainly looks good for movie if u r bored from the editing work.
