Good closeup shots of this FS. Looking at your diffuser from the catch lights of the spider eyes, it seems that the projection of light is strong on the upper part of the diffuser thus, lesser light is below. That explain why some closeup has harsh shadow. See if you could find a way to bring down the light. May be put a reflector onto the flash. A white material card will do.

Hmm, I am actually using the 'victor' diffuser with the sb700. I believe the sb 700 comes with a reflector that is able to pop out, is it the plastic material thingy?

The white card in your sb700 might not have enough reach. You can explore the onboard flash but need to up the flash exp a little more cos the light is not as powerful as the sb700.

Go to Diaso to get the pure white chopping board material and cut it to size. If not, any white or silver shiny material will do.
