If you can only carry 4 nikon lens...

I would carry the following:

1)20mm f2.8
2)28-70mm f2.8
3)80-200mm f2.8
4)400mm?

It really does depend on the situation, what I'm going to shoot.

Just to cover bases in general:

17-35
28-70
80-200
400

But then, depending on what I'm shooting, the 300 might replace the 400. Or a speciality lens might come in, such as an 85/1.4 or the 85/2 PC. Macro work would be the 60, 105, 200, 70-180...

Low light, would be the 85/1.4, 50/1.4, 28/1.4 and 135/2 or 200/2.

The purpose of this thread is to let you know what type of photography you are...

It's not neccessary to cover all the range. Just let you sit back and think what type of photograph you usually take.

Some will choose all prime for sharpness and some will choose all zooms for convenient.

Still stuck, cause there isn't photographs I "usually" take since I shoot anything and everything. If you consider work, then I shoot more sports pictures than anything else, in which case my four lenses would be a 17-35, 80-200, 300 and 400. But that wouldn't be what I'd take for anything else I shoot.

Excuse me, but it's not fair to compare to Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D AF with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. They are in different leagues on the basis of AF drive.

Well........for the 50mm 1.4. AF is fast. Almost comparable if not similiar to a AFS/USM lens. Only gripe is the slight noise while focusing but its not noticable.

One strange think is that nikon lens is more expensive when NEW.

2nd hand lNikon appeared to be cheaper than Canon. Not too sure if others notice it.

No more input on the 4 lens combo?

Actually, it's more challenging to ask for ONE lens. :)

One? If one lens, it will really limit one's shooting chances.. Unless it's a 24-300 zoom... hee hee..

Well, the image quality of it will questionable. (is there one?)

If it's a 24-300, definitely. ;p

I mean, one lens. Zoom or prime. Your choice. :)
