I wonder, how do I get a small manual Rangefinder that I can carry here and there without much hassle. (and with less back ache) I think my Kiev is awesome, but I could do with something lighter so that I can take pictures wherever I can go. I'm thinking of a Canonet or a Small Minolta or Olympus (the QL17, 7sII and the 35RD comes into mind). Does anyone know where can I find a working copy? Thanks

I don't really like the XA. Too plasticy for me. I like solid metal cameras that can double as a weapon. Anyway, where can I find this TCW? Thanks.

I just bought a Olympus 35 RC as a little brother to my 35 SP. Love the compact size although the compromise is its smaller lens.

TCW (The Camera Workshop) is located in Excelsior Shopping Center, which is directly across the main entrance of Peninsula Plaza. There are a number of other stores selling 2nd hand gear there.

i got my Canonet GIII QL17 from ebay... might not the best price, but the store at ebay stated their cam has fully serviced to working condition, also with some warranty....
overall comment of this cam: petite, solid, sharp, relatively bright viewfinder... I removed the neck strap and changed to hand-strap... become stealth and mobile, very powerful for street candid day or night. :thumbsup:
the minus: ISO max 800, no metering on manual mode, no aperture priority but speed priority..

I'm kind of in the same boat as Alternative - looking for a small compact RF for street photography. I'm currently using my FED 3b with Jupiter 12 35mm lens, but I've discovered over the last 2 or 3 days that it's big, slow to reload (I tend to use 12 exposure rolls in it) and heavy. It is inconspicuous, quiet, especially since I had it CLA'd & feels good in my hand. However, I feel I need some sort of autoexposure as well as small size. Autofocus is out, as most of the optics I've seen aren't that great, plastic isn't my cup of tea, and I tend forget to disable autoflash. Most of the Canonet series I've seen need new light seals at least and frequently need major CLA. Any suggestions? eBay is my usual place to buy . . .

Kudos in getting your Fed 3b! I had one before and before it made way for a Kiev 4a, it worked very well indeed and came with an excellent I-61 L/D. I miss that camera, but I know it is in good hands and my Kiev is doing nicely, other then the occasional little quirk here and there.

I've short listed three cameras that I would like to get, the Minolta 7sII, the olympus 35RD and the Canon Canonet QL17. All have fast lenses (1.7+) slow shutter speeds plus B, great optics and good finders. I'll recommend them to you to find, though take my advise with a pinch of salt as I do not yet own any of these cameras. Any other camera to me is either has too slow a lens, no slow speeds, no manual operation or is just too big. Also, if you can take Russian Rangefinders, I'm sure you can take Japanese Quality engineering. Get a good model and give it a CLA if needed. It'll work like a charm after. I hope this helps.
