Can someone help me. I was so excited getting my HOYA R72 filter. Last Sat I went to labrador park to shoot some IR photos with my D70.

Now I know it takes good skills to shoot IR photos. Please forgive my naiveness thinking that it was just placing the IR filter in and getting wonderful shots like those I see in this section of CS.

All my photos came our reddish - like a nuclear holocaust :). What's also puzzels me is that I see nothing through my eyepiece. How do you shoot when you see nothing.

I am sure I am missing something BIG here. Can someone help me. Thank you :dunno:

Welcome to Infrared forum.

You need to do a CWB on your camera with the filter on. Please refer to the instructions posted by Teerex.

After taken the pictures, you need to do post processing on the images. You can download the IR action posted by Ark19.

Do join us on next IR outing. We have group of people to help ;)

Cheers!

Definitely a case of White Balance not set. But if you shoot in RAW, those pictures can be saved with NC. A bit more tedious in post processing. If you shoot in jpeg, then set your White Balance first, easier to post process.

See Nothing through the viewfinder, how to shoot?
Set camera on tripod, compose/frame your scene first then screw on IR filter over the lens and shoot.

Thanks Teerex, appreciate your help :)

The IR_share.atn file is an action for PhotoShop. It's a series of workflow that has been automated.

It is good to have all your *.atn files in a separate folder, easier to manage and to load.

From PhotoShop, at the Action Tab, click on the circled right pointing arrow at the extreme right of the Tab. Window opens, go down the list and select "Load Actions". From there go to your actions folder where you have all your actions, double click on the action you want to use to load.

You will then see that action in the list, click on the down pointing arrow, highlight "My IR" and click on the "play" (right pointing arrow) button at the bottom of the window.

The action will run.

Try it.
