Having just brought the latest Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 Film Scanner
http://www.dimage.minolta.com/elite5400/index.html
I decided to use it to offer some film (slide or negative at same price) scanning service to the community.
It is to cover part of the equipment cost as well at offering other film photographer a choice of high resolution, high Dmax, uncompressed and affordable scanning service.
--------------------PRICING-------------------
Explanation of the price list:
1350PPI: resolution of the scan in terms of Pixels Per Inch
Dimensions: the size of the pixel matrix of the scanned file provided no cropping of border.
1.5MB $7 $0.30: size of the scanned file, price for scanning a whole roll (of up to seven strips of film), price for scan one mounted frame
For scanning individual frames from unmounted film stripes (like unmounted slide and all negatives), add $0.20/frame to the price of scanning one mounted frame.
For scanning individual frames from unmounted film stripes (like unmounted slide and all negatives), add $0.20/frame to the price of scanning one mounted frame.
ICE: hardware removal of dust/scratch on film using Infrared channel, prices shown are additional cost of enabling ICE in price/roll and price/roll no matter JPEG/8bit TIFF/16 bit TIFF format.
All price above EXCLUDES handling charge
Handling charge (depend on how much $X of service you ordered):
$5 for <$5
$4for $5<=X<$10
$3 for $10<=X<$20
$2 for $20<=X<$30
$1 for $30<=X<$40
$0 for >=$40
Handling charge is waived if you self-collect to/from my home @ Jurong West
Collection and returning of film/CDR at MRT stations or SEEDs.
Turnover is within a week but can be much faster depending on my schedule.
Scans are burned onto CDRs of reasonably high quality.
Frames from different rolls will never be combined on one CDR.
You may provide your own external storage device. (e.g.: 2.5 HDD in USB casing), scanning price will slightly lesser for large file size scans in this case. Email me for a quote.
1350PPI: 5R print or larger, overkill for any web use
1800PPI: 6R print or larger
2700PPI: 8R print or larger, most recommended resolution
5400PPI: ultimate resolution
16bit TIFF will be the ultimate if you want to do lots of editing.
16bit linear TIFF available on request, price wise same as non-linear 16bit TIFF. But make sure you know what you are choosing
The ICE dust/scratch removal does wonders. But unfortunately it is extremely time consuming. Scan time multiply many times with ICE enabled. On my scanner the enabling ICE will automatically enable Grain Dissolver (a hardware light source diffuser to reduce film grain in the scan). Dust should not be too much of a problem w/o ICE if your film is recently developed and well keep. A few dust can be easily removed by cloning stamp.
Example of ICE (not common to be so bad)
Im trying to provide RAW scan from film that contain all the information, which you can later play with in you photo editing software. Thus the image can look a bit dull before you add all the saturation. So I will let you choose to
1. get these unmodified scan OR
2. let me do some basic batch editing of the photo, so they look better out of the box
Service using TIFF format is encouraged, as it is shown in the price structure.
0 sharpening is applied in all cased.
Call 90098408 or email zhoufang@singnet.com.sg for any enquiries.
Notes:
1. By default I will scan an area slightly larger than the 24x36mm area of a 135-film frame. This allows all recorded area to be scanned. A black bounder will be seen as a result. If you do not like the black bounder (eg: lazy to crop), I can scan to an area of slightly less than 24x36mm (as most is typically done everywhere else) upon your request.
2. The size of JPEG file may varies due to the unpredictability of compression rate.
3. The size of TIFF files shown are for uncompressed format. Lossless ZIP/LZW compression format might be used to reduce file size. If you do not like this lossless compression to be applied, please let me know ahead of time.
