HX300 Superzoom

Hi Guys

How's the low light? Would you compare the HX300 to the RX100 mk2? I know both are different range cameras but would love to know. pocket only have much dollars.

No comparison... the rx100 is much better. These cameras are designed for totally different purposes

Thanks. Kinda expected it. Guess will get the RX100 mk2

Hi
You have taken beautiful bird photographs with Sony HX 300, is there MANUAL ZOOM / MANUAL FOCUS possible in Sony HX 300 ? as amanual zoomin/manual focus is available in Fuji HS 50 EXR ?
Please let me know as I am also planning for purchasing a long zoom camera.

Thanks
Alok

Yes. It's on the lens. Can't have continuous focus though, so it's single shot af or MF only.

Plse note this model does not shoot raw. But it did not matter after a while since I have never adjusted white balance or exposure for wild life photography. Just have to get metering right which is quite good usually

Didn't know at such a resonable price can find such a great zooming camera. Maybe will consider getting one too. :D

No raw? wow

Looking at these pics, sometimes I wonder why we need anything more. They look fantastic.

Seriously?

Looks nice to me - sharp, nice colors and even nice rounded bokeh. Well I suppose these pics are taken in broad daylight and low light would probably be a different story.

Well, I'm not saying they are bad. Nice work! But they aren't sharp and they look like a Monet painting. Check out his flickr stream, even his nature photos taken with the old Alpha A300 look much better.

That in itself would be considered art by some ;)

Must compare package. IQ is very different! Portability is a big difference. Finally this is gonna be challenging to do birds in flight

It's the sharpening applied that gives the Monet look. Personally, I prefer it slightly blurrer without that look for the feathers.

Yeah but I'm not sure you can get rid of it completely even if you dial it down to the lowest setting. Unfortunately the camera only shoots jpeg.

I have to say the outputs from the Panasonic FZ200 (24x) and the FZ70 (60x) look much better, less smearing.
