i would like to record down screensaver or convert it to video format (best is avi). any advise to use what type of cable? can just use firewire then press the record button on camcorder to rec into miniDV tape?
Easiest way is if your graphics card has a composite or S-Video output, and your videocam has the same input. Not aware of any way to get screensaver video out of firewire port.

Hi tinymall. Sorry I do not really understand your question, but will answer anyway.
If your graphics card already has an s-video port and the cam only has composite, you can get an adaptor cable to convert s-video to composite.
If your graphics card does not have s-video or composite, I don't know an easy solution to the problem, because converting VGA or DVI to PAL involves frame rate conversion and downscaling. Of course it can be done, but it takes more than a simple adapter cable to do it.
most of the images for screensaver are in jpeg, and can be located in your C drive. Import that particular image into - adobe premiere, moviemaker, etc. Resize if necessary. Then export to tape (via firewire) or create an avi.
