I have 2 video files that I want to join as 1.. is there any freeware I can use to achieve the result ? Thanks.

Thanks purplemonkey369.

I download the software, and go to File\MPEG tools.
Then I choose the "Merge & Cut" tab.
After adding the 2 files to merge and keying the name of the output file name, I hit the "run" key.

Even though the 2 video files are from the same settings and from the same v-cam, and there are sounds in the 2 video files, there is no sound in the output merged file.

Do you know how to make the merged file contains the sound?

Thanks.

I tried with some MPEG files on my PC just now and it seems to work fine.

You may want to read this to see if you can solve the problem with VirtualDub.

See point (7).

Thanks Purplemonkey369 for the reference to the webby.. mine video is recorded using sony v-cam and the output is .mpg format.
Point #7 on the provided link shows solution for avi files.

If you can show me how to do adjustment to the settings of TMPGEnc I will very much appreciate !

Then, maybe you can re-export your MPEG files in VirtualDub (as in export them to AVI in VirtualDub), then convert them to MPEG in TMPEG and then join them?

I can only think of this solution right now cos I just woke up. ;p

if you have quicktime pro just open up one movie file and drag the other into the the one that is opened...your two movies will be joined and make sure to save it as a complete movie.
that's all there is to it.

Using TMPEG, the files will be joined without any recompression. With FCP, you have to render so there is a quality drop.

there are many, EOVideo can join many to one too
