How to clean a (crumpler) camera bag?

Got a Canon Crumpler 5 million dollar from canon promotion a few months ago.

before i bought my dry cabin, my dslr was stored in the bag.

recently realized there are fungus growing in the bag... :embrass:

how do i clean it? or is it a gonecase?

One of my friend recommended putting a thirsty hippo in the bag

Where do you stay? Never heard a non leather bag get fungus. I suggest you wash it out and rinse it thoroughly. Then put under the sun for couple of days to kill it. If you have the budget then I guess it consider GG.

Did you check your lens whether is there any fungus? There is a metal piece of thing at the back of the lens, push it all the way and your aperture blade will open up. Point the lens at something bright, use a touch to shine it from the front while your eye looking from the back with the blade fully open to check is there web or fungus. If there is, take it out now and place it in a Ziplock bag. Send it to the service centre because the best way to remove fungus is from SC. Perhaps you need to change some elements too.

Fungus are difficult to kill, and they tend to spread. By putting hippo in will only keep the bag dry while the fungus will still survive and once your lens is in the bag again it have a chance to spread it to the lens.

Take out all partitions. You can use soap, brush and water to wash your bag. Even though the padding seems big, just hang it upside down after you've washed and it will dry in a day or two

Use Lysol and a toothbrush. It may change the colour of the padding though.

crumpler bags are built from parachute material so very hardy. use warm water, soap and cloth will do the trick.

email crumpler SG last night but no reply from them, not that i was expecting a reply.

used warm water, soap and tooth brush. Manage to clean most of it but there ware still some marks left by the fungus.

Gonna sun it the next few days, hope it doesnt rain heavily like today.

remember to check your own bag too!
