hey how many of you minoltans use the wireless flash function?

have any of u used wireless flash outdoors before?

p.s. er, cyke's my bro ;)

I do, and yes I have. Works well for me.

I've even used my 5600HSD for macro work (32mm of extension tubes on the 50mm 1.4) with the diffusor down at a distance of about three inches. : D

Hmmm, since the external flash is triggered by the internal flash, will a shadow occur if the lens is too huge? (shadow caused by internal flash). I have 2 lenses that usually cause shadows if I use internal flash (Tamron 28-200mm and Sigma 20mm EX DG). Wondering if you have faced the prob before....

if you're not using wireless ratio flash, then there won't be a shadow as the internal flash will not illuminate the subject during exposure.

munfai, please explain how the built-in flash does not illuminate your subject during exposure when using wireless flash, when the act of it firing is what sets off the wireless flash?

Perhaps there's something of a timer and a delay, but I'm wondering if you know specifically. Thanks

the built-in flash fires only to trigger the external flash. and it also fires before the shutter opens.

if i remember correctly the timing of events is something like this:

1. shutter release button is pressed
2. built-in flash fires
3. shutter opens
4. external flash fires
5. shutter closes

hmmm, interesting... ok perhaps i'll try it soon and see if any shadows will be cast.. thanks guys! :)

That's about right..... the built0in flash merly triggers the external flash..... u can try using ratio flash and not using it on your camera. Dun have to use any film.. just meter the same object and then see the exposure readings....... I think they should be quite different...

On camera fill acts as fill-in as well as to trigger of the wireless flash unit. Built in flash gives direct illumination to the subject whereas wireless illuminates subject from desired angle.

Wireless flash sync at 1/60s. No HSS function allowed.

Use wireless with care and proper diffusion for soft shadows, unless the shadows are what you're trying to create for dramatic effect.

Cheers!;)

Hi All.....

Here is a test shot of a cactus taken at SBG. Teh cactus photo was taken using a wireless flash with the main built in flash light blocked from flashing to the subject.

I covered the front of the build in flash so that no light goes to the subject but the light will still trigger the wireless flash which was positioned on the front left of the subject.....

Here is the result....

Why need to block the build-in flash if it only use to trigger the wireless flash?

I thought that is 2 mode, one only the wireless flash will illuminate the subject,

another is built-in flash will fill-in while the wireless flash fire ratio 2:1? (On my dynax5 need to hold down flash button...)
