How is Nikon D5100?

How often will you use articulated lcd and live view?

I think it ia very useful for video and people who are more serious in video usually use manual focus.

It's also useful for people doing macro who are using MF.

It is one of the reasons as to why i chose D5100 over D7000 as I use this quite often for landscape especially at the beaches... ;).

Can you share how you use the articulate screen of the Nikon D5100 for landscapes? The only time when I can imagine it being useful is when my setup is really close to the ground while shooting upwards to the sky. In fact, I barely use live view even if my setup is really low, such as doing those "milky rock" scenes. Maybe there is something I am missing.

You already said it... :)

It's quite useful when focusing especially at night when the AF fails. Just switch to liveview, zoom in to the max and manually focus. I find it's much better than trying to AF. I also find it's a lot easier to frame the photo using liveview once the camera is mounted on the tripod because when I take landscapes, it's almost never at my eye level.

This sounds "pervy" to me ;-)

Ah... I haven't thought of that before... Thanks for sharing!

I have a D5100 and I find the articulated screen great for macro with the Nikkor AF-D105mm. No AF, no problem. A gorillapod with the camera at the bug's height and max live view zoom mf is the way to go for tack sharp pics

Thanks for this. I don't do macro photography, although I am aware of the merits of live view in this field.
