does anyone own a Horizon 202 cam? may i know of your views abt the cam? Preferred film to use?

in fact...i'm looking for an alternative cam to the Xpan, cos no cash to invest in such a good cam...looking for something with the Xpan format, the long format or wide format shots.

i've read abt 2 other cams such as the Widelux and the Noblex...but not too sure abt the price in SGD or where i could get it in singapore?

thks

Dude, you may wish to look into the Horizon 203 S3 Pro - it's the newer model I believe, with shutter speeds down to 1s, can take evening shots with ISO 50 film @ 2.8/1 (Velvia 50, my exposure is usually F4/2)

I may be wrong, but perhaps you can locate an old 6x9 or 6x12 120 format folder, and then crop to Xpan format. If it can work, 120 negatives will give you alot more real estate! Darn it. Now I'm going to look at some Moskva 5 on ebay....

explain more abt that Horizon 203 S3 Pro? price? specs? let me check it out...or you got any site abt it?

...rite now, i'm more interested in maximizing any 135 film that i buy, thus have not thought of getting any old 6x9 or 6x12s...largely becos, i'm not keen with the process of cropping :D

A cheaper alternative is the Fuji TX-1, which is essentially an X-pan.

Or an even cheaper alternative.... a digital camera with a free stitching program included e.g. Canon.

It may be possible to build your own. Get a 6x7 or 6x9 folder camera without a shutter lock (and if it has one, remove it e.g. Moskva) ... the calculate how many turns it takes to wind-on one frame. Then use 2 120 roll-film spools (free from labs) to make a 35mm film holder.... voila. Look around on ebay for a cheap 45 or 50mm finder made for 35mm RF cameras (the 80mm lens on the folder is equiv. to about a 45 or 50mm lens in 135 format f/pano) and stick it on top.

A further luxury is to build a pano mask to fit into the camera so that is no spill into the sprocket area.

Downside? All MF folders use relatively long lenses i.e. 75 or 80mm... so only tele panos will be possible.

Alvin, care to share your shots with the 203? I"ve been eyeing the horizons on ebay too, but they're just so darn ex!

Sorry mate! I don't own one. I was mentioning the exposure for my other cameras :-)
