Hi people,

I found a cool and real easy way to make my own rangefinder online, all you will be needing is a ruler, printer, a piece of paper and you are ready to go! It may not be as cool as an auxillary rangefinder but I think this little card can help us who have problem judging the distance of an object on our scale focus camera and do not wish to shoot everything with f/8. Most importantly, it saves yah money for more film!

From my understanding,

Martin Tai from photo.net realise that our eyes are natural rangefinder. Notice that when you focus at a point with only your left eye, the point is different from what your right eye sees. This creates a displacement which (if I'm not wrong) works like the rangefinder. The further the object the greater the displacement. By noteing down this displacements we can chart a 'ruler' to tell us how far away is an object quite accurately.

Taking this idea further, Thomas Achtemichuk created the 'Human Rangefinder Card Generator ' which is a online automated program. All you need is the length of your arm and length between your eyes. Input these data and download the image created. You MUST print it such that it is 2.5" by 3.5" on paper. Instructions are in this website too.

The site is at http://tomchuk.com/rf_hfd/index.php

Hope this will be useful to some of yah.

Nice and interesting info. Maybe I can use it for my golf as well!

Thanks.
