Holy Trinity for video

Different photographers have different views about what constitute their "Holy Trinity"

Here are some suggestions for different video gigs

Event videography:
Speed to capture and compositional variety is the objective.

1. an ultrawide equivalent (24mm and wider): essential for estab shots and gimbal work
2. a fast zoom (constant f2.8 up to 70mm equivalent) Bokeh is nice, no? If not, might as well use a camcorder.
3. a superzoom (10X or higher) Superzooms are safer than pro-telezooms because you can always go full wide instantly without changing lens. Excellent choices are Sony 24-240mm and Tamron 18-400mm

Interview:
Distance, space constraint and multiple camera angles must compliment each other.

1. Nifty fifty equivalent (APS-C 35mm f1.2 or M43 25mm f0.95): Bokehlicious Cam A from a respectful distance
2. 85mm equivalent: (Cam B for a slightly more profile, tighter angle to avoid jumpcuts)
3. 18mm equivalent: for an estab Cam-C or 2-shot with interviewer without showing cam A/B and lighstands in frame.

Travel:
Portability is the name of the game. So only primes or small zooms qualify.

1. A fast ultrawide 14mm equivalent for cars and cathedrals. Laowa 7.5mm f2/9mm f2.8
2. An ultra fast 35mm equivalent. (May be your only hope for night scenes so choose the most versatile focal length for your taste)
3. A kit superzoom. (Make hay while the sun shines)
