Holiday video in Jiangnan, China

Hey guys, I'm a starter videographer who wants to learn more about videography.

I've edited a short reel of my favourite timelapses and footage that I took during the trip. I would love any comments and criticism on my holiday video.

It was shot in Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing and Hangzhou during December of last year.

Nice work ... thanks for sharing ...

To my untrained eyes, it look very professional :)
The music sync with the screen.
One of the day, must try it for myself .................

Yes, it was great fun editing and capturing footage :D, I'm sure you'll enjoy the creative process too!

Nice work on the video. Great work capturing life in these big cities.

But just note that these cities you visit is not close to the real JiangNan experience...

Thank you! :-)

I agree, this is my second time visiting Shanghai (and my first time exploring part of Jiangnan). I was sad that I only had a 2 week trip planned so the places I could explore were only high speed rail or uber-friendly. I would definitely return for a closer exploration and include villages or nature spots like Qiandaohu or the Ningbo highlands.

But I'm glad I met lots of friendly people who came to the big cities to work from other 2nd or 3rd tier cities in the area like Nantong, Wuxi, Shaoxing and Xiangshan... All were proud (but a little coy) of their hometowns and definitely presented a case where their hometowns were the most 好玩 in the region.

Nantong, Wuxi, Shaoxing are all big cities. Try to go out to the townships where are the real gems are.

I stay in Shaoxing region btw.

here are some shots from my travels in China. Most of these places are places I accidentally run into during my drives.

Those are really beautiful pictures and definitely places I've never heard of before (or are commonly seen on touristy FB pics). I didn't expect there to be such sights to behold within Zhejiang itself!

It must be rewarding staying in China (sans the pollution), because something expansive and beautiful can be seen over a weekend trip to the countryside.

Pollution is pretty much bad everywhere in the world now... even SG air sucks. But the air in certain parts of Zhejiang is still relatively good.

Yup, Zhejiang and the other southern coastal provinces still have places with good air, though when I was there in winter, the only clean air days were those with a strong wind blowing from the North East.

Here is the second video I made, lighter in tone and shorter too!

It's on Xiao Long Baos from "Jia Jia Tang Bao", a famous XLB shop in Shanghai.

Hey! This is very well put together! I love the zooms inside the timelapses! Really gives a dynamic feel to it :) Just wondering what camera and lens did you use for this?

Overall good job!

Thank you Azmir :)! Yes I trying out that zoom into a smaller area of a timelapse style, hopefully for my next videos, I will be able to do two or more zooms for one scene with better location planning :X

I used a 550D and adapted 18-105mm Nikon for the timelapses.

And a nikon D3300 with Sigma 17-50 for the slowmo/realtime video.
