thinking of getting a holga...

it uses 6x6cm film right??

where can the film be bought at and how much does it cost??

and where can i get the film developed at??

do most developing labs do those kinds of film??

Hello Boxxer,

Excellent! Join the club. ;)

without modification it's a 6X4.5 cam. with modification it's a 6X7. i believe 6X6 is achievable with additional modication.

film can be bought at most professional photoshops/labs. cost depends on the type of film/slide you buy. slides MAY generally be more expensive than film.

you can get it developed at most pro shops (like RBG). it'll cost you about $4.80 just for the development.

enjoy!

to add onto rochkoh's post, just go to any pro shops (CP, fotoguide, ruby photo) and ask for 120 film. that's the medium format size. but like 35mm film there's a whole range of 120 films (ISOs, slide/neg, colour or B&W, chromogenic, etc etc) so do some research before going down otherwise sure dam blur one. but generally there's a 120 equiv. for most f35mm film types (e.g. ilford XP2 comes in both 35mm and 120 film size)

hi thanks to rochkoh and larry for the replies...

anyone know whether its still available at kinokuniya?? cos that's where i read could be bought at. or is there anywhere else thats selling thee holga??

i was thinking of getting it tmr (21Jan) cos i've got a half day and going down to town.

also... since i'm still new to this 120 film... i'm just going to take B/W photos. so what film can i get that will fit my basic needs? 120 film has how many exposures??

rochkoh -> $4.80 for development and how much for the printing?

a big thank u for the advice...

no worries Boxxer,

was at kino two weeks ago and saw a holga on sale. can't remember the price.

i chickened out and used TCN400. ;)

in a 120 roll, you'll probably get 16 6X4.5 OR 12 6X7 shots.

i was charged $13.00 for 15 120 b/w prints. it shouldn't be far from there.

Holga is 645 with its insert, 6X6 with insert removed (no modification needed). But you have to shift the indicator window on the back cover.

A 120 roll of NPS (col neg) cost me 3.50 (for test shots), and developing cost 9.50: 3.50 for dev + 0.50 per 4s (4x4" print). I used the square format which gives 12 exp per roll. 645 gives 16 exp.

If you can spare some cash you may want to try Seagull? The fixed aperture AND shutter speed is a bit irritating.
.

Haven't tried Kino but u can find it in Yahoo Singapore Auctions, though the guy who sells it stays in HK, so the postage is abt $14.

As for the film, try using B/W or color negative cos they are more forgiving in nature with regard to exposure. I personally prefer Ilford HP5+ ($4.00 at Ruby) cos u can push process to 3200 ISO speed.

U can also mod ur Holga, like flocking the interior, adding a bulb function, making focus point closer, etc. Check out the sites on Holga mods for more info.

Happy Shooting

Or you can get them at fFurious

anyway i went down to kino to check out the price...

110 for the holga (starter kit i think..)

71 for the lomo cybersampler or supersampler

there were others but didn't check the price... only interested in the holga or cybersampler

:)

I've an extra set of HOLGA camera 120SF (model with flash). I'm prepared to let go if you are interested. PM me your contact. The set is brand new and not use before.
