Mitsubishi will most likely win the bid.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

lol . seriously , when one of my friend commented that , base on nikon traditional ways of doing business ... one day confirm end up like minolta and will surely lose out to people like sony and canon .

moral of the story , not all uncles with mustache is yr father ...:bsmilie:

But no guarantee that new methods of doing business is the best anyway.

Like a heat seeking missle(old technology) could bring down a stealth fighter

It is unlikely that Nikon will close anytime soon... It fact it was named one of the top 100 IT companies recently by Businessweek

http://bwnt.businessweek.com/it100/2006/index.asp

In fact Nikon was ranked 52 ahead of Canon! Nikon's crown jewel is in its stepper machines. These machines have the capability of motion control up to nanometers, and its applications are found in LCD and semiconductor manufacturing. And this is some very impressive engineering!

But consider this fact, Canon's net profit was $3.4 billion last year, while Nikon's was $258 million, and Canon is the 2nd largest Japanese IT-related company in the similar portfolio, digital camera manufacturing is its forte, haha.

is total net profit or ONLY camera nett profit ?
nikon don sell printer , nikon don sell video camera.

Actually Nikon sells video cameras or used to anyway, in Japan and the States.

Of all these profits, is it really the true value of it?

IMHO, any Big ahem...Corporation will never let anyone know their REAL profit ... :dunno:

Hee... the list is listed based on:

The remaining group of companies was ranked on four criteria: return on equity, shareholder return and revenue growth (which were given equal weight), and total revenues (which was weighted).

Although total revenue is still counted as a list criteria, more weightage is given to creating VALUE for its shareholders. Its not size but how innovative the company is at creating value.

Just a side note.

Mitsubishi is a loose group of companies with 300 over independant companies.

Nikon is just one of them.

But Nikon is unlikely to be sold anytime soon.

They are a small player in the consumer market, but big in industrial applications.

One likely future takeover of Nikon will be from Temasek Holdings. :)
And then we will see Nikon :flush:

This thread is crappy but I like it! :bsmilie:

Nikon will never sell to the West as most Japan coy have lots of pride.
