Came across this recently. Just wandering if anyone in CS has this camera. It is v well built and can take Leica m-mount lenses. Can u share how u find the pictures taken with the Leica lenses and where can I get this camera. Thanks.

Thanks. Will check with CP on Mon.

How's the compatibility with M lenses? Read about the focussing problems and shutter lag. Anyone can share their experience in these 2 areas of concerns.

I'd got the Hexar RF new and used it with Leica M lens (quite a while ago). There was indeed focusing issue. The error for M90 Elmarit is so obvious that I sold it within a month. Cannot quite recall how long was the shutter lag (probably not too bad, but certainly no where near Leica M standard.)

I heard that by removing the 4 metal shims on the Konica Hexar's lens flange can solve the focusing issue.

That would make a $1800 fun project ;)

Is the new RF kit $1800? That's cheaper than I thought. ;p

No, not kit set. Juz body alone. Not worth it IMO.

If it is $1800, you could top up a little more and get a nice condition M6 body. Go for the M.

what dreamseeker said.

How much does a M6 TTL cost?

Can expect to pay around $2200 for a near mint example.

Juz notice that someone is asking $2750 for a non-TTL M6 :) That is waaaaay too high! It just won't sell at that price (unless there's rich dummy around :bsmilie: )

woah, u all sure have $ to spend :)

Waaa..

Quite sensitive leh. I paid close to that price for a mint one. I couldnt get a mint TTL model so went for the classic.

It depends on personal preference. You can be bo chap and get a user condition one or be a bit picky and choose a better condition one.

Ron's camera has a M6 panda if any of you interested.

Hmm...I shall shut up b4 inadvertently hit more sensitive nerve.

Paying "collector price" for M6 Panda is :nono: 4 me (sorry, can't help it. okie, I shut up now :) )

Dante Stella have a good writeup on the myth of the focusing problem with Leitz glass titled "Hands off my flange!. I saw someone referencing Erwin Puts article, which give the opposing view. However, bear in mind that Puts is linked with Leica (not sure if commercially). I had the opportunity of meeting Dr Joseph Yao, a internationally known Leica user, earlier this year. He carried 2 cameras at that time, one was a M7 with the Rapidwinder and Rapidgrip. The other was a Hexar RF which was fitted with a Tri-Elmar. He did commented on a very slight shutter lag compared with Leica Ms. Not enough to deter him from using one it seems.

Hope the above helps.

IMHO, I don't think this would be apple to apple comparison. Not trying to nitpick here, but for a Hexar RF comparison, one would have to consider the AE and motor advance. In which case one would be comparing the RF with a M7 + M-Motor. I don't think one could in the current environment get a used M7 + M-Motor for a little more than 1.8K. OTOH, if one could live without AE and auto film advance, the M6 classic or TTL would do nicely.

Er..But.. the Tri-Elmar is an f4 lens, and with focal lengths of 28-35-50mm, any focusing inaccuracy would be masked off. For my case, it was used with an M90 f2.8 lens, and the error at 3m was noticeable enough to render the image unacceptable. I know EP's BS but for the Hexar RF, focusing is an issue (okie, it's just me ;) )

and AFAIK, Dr JY is known as a Leica "seller" more than a Leica user :bsmilie:
