help with upgrade...

Hi,

I have a 505si.... thinking of 'upgrading' i.e. lens, flash, filters...blah...

What would you guys recommend? Go for a new telephoto lens? Invest in a flash unit? I have a tight budget about SGD400... what would be a better bet?

I generally shoot family pics, pics of my two children at play, etc.

how do you like the result of your kit lens? if you are not happy with it, u might want to consider a better zoom/better optic?

do u think your zoom range is very limited ? wat is the focus length you normally set? do u have any trouble going very near to your subject ? if the answer is yes, u can consider 80mm-200mm.

how often do u use your built in flash? once in a blue moon? flash not necessary has to be used during night. You can use it during bright day too or during tricky lighting condition.

hmm.. now you've got me thinking!

I guess I might go for a lens upgrade then... I find that very frequently, I will want to get a closer shot of my subjects (a.k.a. my children ) but kinda tough... places like the fountain @ Bugis also requires a good zoom right?

Which would be a good lens option without burning my pocket and getting my ears pulled by my finance minister ?

you might want to consider Minolta AF 70-210mm f 4 . This is very good lens with the price you pay. Call up cathay and check with them how much is it.

make sure u get the f4 and not the f4.5-f5.6. try your luck at 2nd hand store.
