Hi

Considering buying a grey 5D from TCW

For the experienced users here, any tips on what to check on the grey set?

They claim its new.

So far i can only think of checking the shutter count.

Any idea how to check the age(manufacturing) and shutter count (is opanda good enough)

Pardon me, a Canon noob here :embrass:

hi

TCW quotes abt 3.8k with 1yr TCW warranty (its a GREY set)
Cheapest i found with CANON warranty is 4.25k

so anything to take note of when checking a grey canon set?

thanks drumma,

thats what i wanna know, they claim its brand new. so how to check for that? other than shutter count, i dont know any other method. and how do i check the EXACT shutter count from day 1 it was manufactured?

can i get the full list of accessories and stuff that comes with a new set from the canon website?

heh. alright. check contact pins on the camera whether it's still sparkling gold. look out for user marks. check the sponge above the mirror. that's all i can remember..

for accessories, it's written on one side of the box and also in the manual.
dpreview has a list also. go 5d review, one of the pages.

thanks man drumma

joining the FF fray soon i hope

i won't recommend tcw as one of the places to shop really. i think CS bns has better deals. try pg camera which is just right besides camx as well. they has one of the best prices around.

where's PG and CAMX?

LOL, this has become like our instant msging!

thanks very much drumma, u got horror stories abt TCW? and u gotten stuff from PG and CAMX before?

u owe me kopi. haha..

horror stories ar.. just do a search. previously i was intending to buy some stuffs at TCW and i gave it a miss.. dun want to be paranoid about the equipment.
i have gotten stuffs from PG before. good prices, good service and friendly. not like TCW, where the uncle kinda snugs at me cos i wear slippers and shorts and maybe no money to buy the 1d2 on display. hahahaah

I bought my 5D from TCW and had no problems with the camera. TCW has been around for a very long time (2nd. generation) and has built quite a reputation. I find that the comments made by d..... has got no basis other than the fact that he was perhaps inappropriately dressed..or as he puts it...in the eyes of the uncle there.

I have recommended TCW before and I'll do so again and again.

TCW is one generation not second generation. The first generation shop is DHO. CamX is related. All in the same family.

You might try giving tongeh a call... I think he carries 5D grey set too at very good price though no "shop warranty"

If i'm not wrong someone here in CS selling grey 5D $3600...
