Hi all,

was cleaning my lens just now and realised that there are many "microdots" on the surface of my dr cron's front element.
on closer inspection, it seems the dots are on the inner surface, and cover it in its entirety.
im guessing its some form of mini water droplets or something.

btw, i dont use the dry cabi that often as i use the camera daily :(
any bros can advise?

I've seen a similar problem before. A good cleaning should help. Typically doesn't affect image quality though it can get worse. The issue I came across was due to dried up lubricant which mixed with moisture and became dirt.

Hi, the cron dr is a great lens, but what you have experienced is most likely quite common among the lens of the age. What has happened here is called 'fogging', which is a sign of deterioration of the old lubricant causing it to evaporate and condense on the lens element, forming little droplets. These little drops can hurt lens coating in the long run. If you wish to keep the lens for long, I'd suggest you to bring it for a CLA. A skilled technician will be able to evaluate the condition of the lens and do the necessary cleaning and re-lubrication.
