Help Needed : SEL55210 or SEL18200

If I recall correctly, the issue is with panorama rather than video, although the optical stabilisation might not be as good.

I read other sites saying that the Panorama issue had been resolved on the new version, but yet to be verified.

Again, my thought is on the value of money, since both lens do not have significant performance difference, why pay more just for slightly slimmer or lighter one and have to deal with some potential compatibility concerns.

Well, it's just my own view not against anyone or brands.

I read in Lowyat forum that the new LE lens is selling RM200-300 cheaper than the current lens.
But over there the Tamron is cheaper than the Sony....

Is buying Len from Malayisa cheaper than Singapore? If yes, any reliable shops to recommend?

How about warranty? Is it international?

Used to be cheaper to buy in Malaysia, but not anymore.
For eg, previously the RRP for SEL18200 was RM2299 ($920) when over here the RRP was $1199, but now already RM2999 ($1120).

The RRP for the new 18200LE is RM2799 ($1120) compared to $1199 over here, so not much difference anyway and the warranty is valid only in Malaysia.
Over there, the Tamron is selling around RM2.5k.
I'm using ex rate of S$1=RM2.50

@ widget : thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like sony is more restrictive in terms of warranty for their lens, as compared to electronic devices. I guess Tamron is the same too.

Tamron 5 yrs warranty is for SG only.
Similarly, their Malaysian 2 yrs warranty is valid for MY only.

Maybe Sony is better in camera manufacturing than lens manufacturing... Unlike the rest of the 3rd party lens maker that provides ample warranty period...

Which third party brand produces E lenses besides Sigma?
