[HELP] EPL1 high noise at iso 200

u might want to try "pixel mapping" option? Not sure if it can help ur problem here as it's more for stuck or dead pixel. It's a good "maintenance tool", so no harm doing it and try again:)

Guess ill try it now.. desperate for solutions.

Can any kind soul take the trouble and post some 100% crops of their epl1? better if the 20mm pancake was used as well.
Need to know if its how things are with the epl1 or just mine.

hiax.. the reason i bought the lens is cause im leaving for taiwan on monday. Hoped for clean night shots. Quite dissapointed

Correction on my post about how the image looks like at 14x on screen or on VF2. I only enlarge to 3x or 5x for checking, but now that I did a 14x, it's the same as yours, but not on the file itself. It's related to resolution, not ISO noise.

Sure, will post a 100% crop.

Ok, here is a night shot sample, E-PL1 with Lumix 20mm, all standard settings, ISO 400, noise reduction and filter are both Off. All other info are in the Exif.

im guessing its a lighting issue. yr photo seems quite well lit. my "iso" test was done in my room. oh well.. gg to taiwan tmr! guess i have to just PP more. lol

I included the background in the crop, because it was dim in that area. The only light is mostly on the man and fruits, just a single bulb. And notice dark shadows on the man too, because the light is above, slightly in front of him.

The speed here is 1/80, f/1.7 at ISO 400, so that's still low light, IMHO.

Your first image below is :
iso 200, 20mm, f2.5, 1/160sec

Assuming exposure on both are correct, then mine is not as well lit as yours, based your settings above.

But assuming mine is better lit than yours, then it's not a lighting issue again, but rather an exposure issue on your part.

Here is another one just taken a few minutes ago, all standard settings, Noise filter and reduction are both off, f/1.7, ISO 400. Even more low light, handheld at 1/8 (the joys of having IBIS, and my no. 1 reason for using a Pen for my MF lenses, even over a Leica M9, YMMV).

At any rate, who prints 100% crops anyway ? Have fun and good luck.

To be explicit, the parts to the right side of the remote option button are in shadows, not lit, near the top of this crop.
