Hi all,

I'm going to get a new HD video camera. Need some advice.

I google the best consumer camera, for HD quality is the Panasonic TM700, which records in 1080/60i format. I also did my research that these format are not compatible with video editing software. Is it true? If not, im thinking of getting the Panasonic TM700 or Sony 550v Handycam.

So, i need the pro here advice. I need a HD quality video camera, purpose is to do a documentary project and recording interviews.

Some features that are important:
- can edit using software
- have hdd or SD card reader (i want to avoid using the Mini Tape)
- user friendly as i have little experience in videography
- not a hassle when comes to transferring or storing video.

Please advice.

Thank you.

You can select 1080/25p with the TM700 I think.

Though they're an excellent trio of camcorders, the Vixia HF S21, HF S20, and HF S200 are significantly more expensive than their respective competitors, especially since the S20 and S200 lack electronic viewfinders. If you can forgo some of the subtleties of the manual controls, you can probably get what you need with a cheaper camcorder.
