Hi members,

I currently looking for a easy to use handy cam for taking good quality video for dog agility sports....something that can take wide angle and possibly able to capture actions detail up to 10 meter, budget around 600 although I think can push to $1,000

I tried going to shops to ask, but most are only interested in closing a sale and confusing me even more...:(

GoPro Hero2 would be an ideal camera. Though abit pricey at around $500. It has unchangeable fisheye lens but very good optics with minimal lens flare. Of course, it is shockproof and waterproof.

If the fisheye turns you off, consider Olympus Tough P&S camera, it does video as well as stills.
For budget solution, try the standard def Oregon Scientific ATC2K (ATC-2000) helmet camera

If you don't need to mount the camera on your dog, then sony PJ7XX line of camcorders have the widest lens in the market at 26mm and unbeatable image stabilisation that allows you to run with your dog with minimal shakes in your video.

Sony has their action cam coming in photokina. Can consider too

Heheh guys, thanks for the suggestions...sorry I think I might have mislead the question..I'm looking for a cam to take action video of dog agility....meaning the camera would be at the outside of the ring and not mounted on the dog.... The wide angle is to capture as much of the course as posiblie so we can subsequently study and analyst the position of both the dog and it's handler to understand the strength and weakness of the techniques used...:p

For sub-$1000, Panasonic SD90 has the widest angle at 28mm. Very good quality video with pro-features for that price. Only complain is its 1080i not 1080p.

YeaH, heard a lot about this cam.....not too worry about if it 1080p or 1080i as I'm only using it to analyst the sport with occasional upload to YouTube for sharing.... Know of any place I can get one at a good price?

Mustafa sells it for $1000. Actually, I must apologise to Panasonic for saying it is 1080i. It is actually 1080 50p. Unfortuantely, most NLE can't handle 1080 50p. So got to shoot 1080 50i. or 560p iFrame.
