Introducing Haida Slim Pro II MC Circular Polarizer (CPL) Filter
CPL is one of the most popular filters apart from Neutral Density & UV. It serves a few purposes
1. Makes skies more blue. The effectiveness also depends on angle of the sun should be 90 degree from the scene you are shooting. So for sunrise/set, it won't be useful. Tendency of ultra wide angles to have uneven polarization is higher as well. So do take note of this.
2. Reduce reflections & glare.
- Situations such as glare from sun on water reflections can be removed by controlling the CPL. Yes, you can control as it has a external rotating ring.
- To certain extent reflection on glass, especially shooting through glass to capture external landscape. Sometime the reflection on the glass due to internal lights can be distracting.
- Remove glare on rocks when shooting seascapes/waterfall.
3. Some people do use it as a ND filter. Haida CPL as about 2 stops of light reduction.

- 8 layers of multi-coat to prevent reduce chance of flaring.
- Water & oil repellent
- Scratch resistant
- Slim profile to reduce vignetting on ultra wide angle lenses, this is a important feature as CPL are thicker than UV/ND filters and easily cause vignetting
- Lightweight anodized aluminium ring
- Portable plastic box with soft foam, can be used to hold filters in the field. The foam helps to absorb moisture and slows down fungus growth.
