Good bokeh with lens kit

Not that easy. First of all, you have to understand DOF. The DOF is relatively low on large aperture and with a kit lens, you're limited to f4 to f5.6 wide open. The softness of these lenses when used wide open is another limiting factor.
You may get better bokeh using a longer focal length and an even smaller aperture. I've gotten some nice shots with a 70-300mm @f8. The DOF is also relative to the distance to subject, aperture and the distance to the BG. With a shorter distance to subject and a longer distance to the BG, you'd get good bokeh even with smaller apertures.
Try it out and you'll get some idea.

It is going to be abit tough to achieve a nice bokeh with a kit lens... and like zac08 said... you can get a longer telephoto... or a fast lens. You may like to buy the inexpensive 50mm f/1.8 and use that.

You may wish to note that the kit lens for Sony is 18-70mm not 55mm. The tele zoom kit lens is the 75-300mm. To achieve nice bokeh, a few factors have to be considered & observed. But a longer zoom or a bigger aperture will give you a better chance. You may want to place your subject further away from the background too. Alternative, you can get a Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens which is very cheap & can easily produce the creamy bokeh.

so far, this lens (Nikon AF 75-240mm f/4.5-5.6D) that i used before is cheap and quite ok on bokeh.

Adding on a close up filter to the kit lens can blur background, but not sure is it nice or not.

It's not impossible to get a good bokeh with kit lenses. Just pay attention with your composition: subject vs background distances, focal length, etc...

the longer the focal length, at a given aperture and fixed distance away from object, the depth of field becomes thinner.
to use a kit lens, i.e. use it at 55mm, take an object near to you, the nearer, the better the background.
if you shoot the same object at 18mm, the background will be more in focus etc..
if the object is further from you, the background will also come into focus more, i.e object nearer to infinity..
