Hey guys! Thought I'd just put up a post about this. I was searching for info about the Bravo FF, and so I emailed Genus asking about it. Turns out Cathay Photo didn't sell it, so Genus sent an email over to their marketing comm Charmaine, she contacted me saying that a demo unit has been brought over from Hong Kong to CP for me to try, and that they will be selling it for S$845 with GST and a single gear ring 0.8 pitch flexible.

Hi Mr. Tan

Just to inform you, the retail price of the Genus Bravo Follow Focus System
(G-BFOCS) which comes with a 0.8 pitch gear and Flexible Lens Gear (G-FG) is
S$845 including GST.

Regards
Charmaine

Still too ex for me though, seeing that B&H Photo sells it for USD$487.50. Still trying to calculate how much I have to pay by shipping over, but it should be way cheaper than from CP. Plus shipping, 7% tax and credit card and currency charges included, should be about S$750 - 770.

Any reason why you prefer Genus over RedRock /Cinevate/Indifocus?

I'm new to this... I wanted to test a follow focus in person, and since I know the people at Cathay Photo, what better way than to ask them to bring in one from Genus?

I know indifocus isn't of good quality. Plastics all around and likes to slip. RedRockMicro has a V3 coming out soon. Cinevate's Durus is just so damn ex. The other one creating much interest and good reviews over at Cinema5D forums is the Cinefocus R2 from Shoot35.com.

So you get Cathay to bring one in for you to test, then you buy from overseas? They don't mind that you do that?

They said they're "retailing it at S$845" meaning not just me I guess. There was never an indication by me that I'm buying it from them. I didn't actually "get" them to do anything other than answer my question that was initially aimed at Genus :bsmilie:
