One-Man-Operated mulitcam Livestream set-ups conventionally requires the mixer to be located where the camera operator is. That means the operator cannot move around a venue to chase angles while executing the switch - until now.
The slingStudio is an afforadable iOS based multicam LIVE switching system comprising HDMI camera tramsmitters ($349), a wireless receiver/recorder/encoder Hub($999) and an iPad.
With the switcher iPad, the cameraman/visionmixer can move and shoot freely anywhere in the venue and still control the LIVE streaming, switch camera angles, and even shoot additional b-roll for the event highlight reel.
Another big advantage is there is no need to restrict the "mixer+cam1+Cam2" cluster chain to the back of the room since there is no need for cables. All tripod positions can be shifted around to suit space availability and optimum coverage.
For the cable purist, the SlingStudio Hub offers one single HDMI input (which can be connected to the programme output of a traditional main mixer.) And one HDMI out (which can be fed to an encoder of your choice for conventional uplink.)
By connecting the SlingStudio Hub BETWEEN a HDMI mixer and the enocder/streamer, the SlingStudio can serve 5 important functions while still allowing Wirecast, or blackmagic webpresenter or LiveU to do the encoding and streaming via etherrnet, bonded 4G or Speedify.
1. as a H264 SDcard recorder for the main mixer
2. as a wireless HDMI receiver for another 4 more wireless cameras in addition to the cabled cameras.
3. A remote viewer for all cameras sending wireless feeds.
4. CG generator
5. As an overide switcher (via ipad) between whatever camera is on Main Mixer Programme and any roving wireless camera.
For HD-SDI set-ups, the SlingStudio can even be a parallel switching system if all cameras can simultaneously output HDMI and HD-SDI.
This is great for multi-CDN livestreams as SlingStudio can stream directly via WIFI to Facebook Live or Youtube.
All these at a low price of under S1500 for 1 Hub+ 1 cameralink
