this is sweet old-school!!! - almost reminds me of the time when all the range finder cameras came with the leather cases which screw on at the bottom

Nice but there are also down side to it, like battery and CF card removal would be a little difficult, but if you are not taking events... you would not be taking out the CF that often. The leather sure looks nice isn't it?

It's nice indeed.

But when you are using a casing worth 20% the camera cost, and considering the price of electronics are dropping rather fast nowdays...

yep, definitely old school. My dad had something like this on his Minolta, 30 yrs ago.

This the best I have seen ... very nostalgic feel to it ... But may not be very practical for me in this case. I will be shooting journalistic style in the filed and not too sure what kind of weather condition. I know there will be a beach event shoot ... so definately not good for the leather ...

Anyhow ... thanks for the suggestion. Raised a lot of interest here in this thread i think.

Thanks for the offer ... I manage to get some gaffer tape already.
Will try to do it myself DIY and hope it does not come out looking like a badly wrapped "mummy" ... Ta Ko Yoke like that you know ....
