Erm, you have it back to front.

The Nikon system as a whole is considerably larger than the Canon System. When you incorporate backwards compatibility in to the equation the Nikon system would be at least 3-4 times larger than the Canon Eos system.

Caveat: References above are to professional bodies and accessories. Newer Nikon consumer bodies and amateur bodies aren't as backwardly compatible as the professional bodies.

i see.. thanks. ;)

I feel the heat.........:rbounce: :rbounce:

what are u going to shoot anyway? besides G and L there are still a lof of 3rd party lenses of which a few are better than OEM, for intended purposes. You mean you will be buying purely top-end equipment straight away?

just for curiosity sake, since both types boast high quality image.

This debate never dies away.......Nikon is better than Canon is better than Minolta. But I think the photographer really is the key. One can have top end stuff with little imagination and creativity and still shoot very mediocrely. But a very creative and igenious person with only an entry level SLR and a good 50mm prime (which is dirt cheap any brand and relatively), would be able to produce very good shots within the framework of his equipment. It doesn't really matter what equipment u have if u are good enough. Sure some wacky special shots are out if u don't have the equipment but then again often, many of us even struggle to put together a good "normal" shot. Myself being at the top of the queue.

Just got an Omni-Bounce for the 3500xi flash and used it at my father's year end function to take shots of people getting awards, prizes, and performing on a slightly raised stage. Was very close to them Using the <50mm most of the time on a Tamron 24-135mm. Thinking about it, I might have used a 50mm prime instead. But of course the 24 end was good for the large group photos at the end of the whole event.........:)

buddy, as far as i'm concerned, i've never said and never been wanting to say that which is better than which, especially when both are established, trialed and tested products.

i simply want to know, comparing apple to apple, which one gives better price/performance ratio, technically.

i guess most, if not all, of the seasoned photographers understand the truth that pricey camera and lens do not necessarily give good photo. it depends more on the one who operates the cam.

I wasn't referring to u but was just making a general statement.
