Hi ppl.

Today went SLS to look for olympus 720uz.
Well, my 1st store was Alan Photo.
Then 1 salesperson entertained me ( the quite 'dao' looking one, always there one ).
I asked to look at 720uz, he pointed to me one inside the showcase. Then I asked what's the difference between this and 3020z, he said got bigger zoom and 3020z discontinued already.
Ok, then I asked if 720uz has Noise Reduction function. Guess what, he was stunned, and told me need 'noise reduction' for what, only video cam require 'noise reduction'. Haha....then I explained 'noise' in photos, not video sound, he doesnt seem to know. Haiz....then I went to ask abt chromatic aberration, he also dunno and juz told me so far, no customers complain. Asked the price, he quoted $790!!
CP only quote me $760....

Not trying to flame AP or what, just find the above incident rather amusing and share with ppl here. =)

Maybe AP should improve on their staff's technical knowledge.

In situations like this I'd just go and look for another sales guy.

Well, some salesmen at AP do lack some technical know-how. But I also understand that AP is selling a large variety of photographic equipment, both film and digital cameras, and it would extremely difficult for them to know about the details of each camera. In order to overcome this, I would do some research over the web to find out more about the features / strong points / weakness, etc about the camera that I am interested.

In actual fact, my buddy alway carry his SM card with him and I always carry my CF card around with me. My friend has played with the camera, which the salesman was more than willing to let him play. He took 3 pictures with his SM card and went back to study the pictures, regarding CA and Noise. All this time, the salesman did not know about the finer details of the camera, but rather that this is one with 8x zoom and it is very compact.

After playing with it for a while, we did ask how much and the salesman quoted me $780 (include GST). After pondering for a while, my friend declined the sales. We continue to talk to him about which cameras are hot items (A40, S602Z are among the best selling items).

Just my 2 cents worth.

Would you believe I actually met a sales girl who had difficulties in identifying a lens cap from a lenshood???

Last time I used to have the same point of view same with Yongliang. Now I have changed my point of view. Afterall, they are just salesmen. As long as they can provide me a good price, that is all. I think the main part is that we, as consumers, should do our jobs (in gathering all the info about certain products before going there) before we go there. Just like what Goondu said, don't you think so?
