As the imaging world braces itself for the A7/7AR, Samyang has announced five FE (full-frame E-mount)lenses to add the existing 5 from Sony and Carl Zeiss
http://www.dpreview.com/news/2013/10/16/samyang-announces-five-full-frame-e-mount-lenses
Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC
Samyang 24mm f/1.4 ED AS IF UMC
Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC
Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC
Samyang 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC

compared to:
Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* 24-70mm F4
Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm F2.8 Lens (model SEL35F28Z)
Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 55mm F1.8 Lens
Sony 28-70mm F3.5 – 5.6 OSS Zoom Lens
G Lens 70-200mm F4 OSS Telephoto Zoom Lens

These E-mount are Sony A7/7R

Cannot use on my VG30, right ? (though my VG30 is also using E-mount lens)

Of course you can! FE will more than cover VG30's sensor. Crop factor of 1.5 applies. No adapters needed!
But would be nice if metabones makes a FE to APS-C speedbooster for E-mount.

Thanks Bamboo but I do not understand what you meant by "metabones makes a FE to APS-C speedbooster for E-mount"

Also,a more elementary question, what doesFE stands for ?

Thanks

FE stands for Full-Frame E-mount. Since FE lenses can cast a circular image big enough to completely cover a full-frame sensor, attaching a focal length reducer such as a speedbooster can focus all the light into a smaller circle just big enough for the APS-C sensor on your VG30. The result is a wider FOV and a brighter image. Typically with metabones, you can expect 0.7 crop reduction and one fstop of light gain.
There are currently speedboosters for F, G, EF,FD, contax, leica lenses etc for both micro43 and NEX cameras.

Wah, thats great !

I shall try out some metabones on my vg30 then ?

Which metabones u recommend for my VG30 ? Not the high end ones, reasonable one can already (can get for $200) ... ?

Thanks

So far,I have only bought one speedbooster for my Canon FD35-105 f3.5 (Here's the video I shot with it)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fCOl...ature=youtu.be
My verdict is:
1. Very good for further shortening DOF because you can opt for a longer lens (shorter DOF) for most situation.
2. Some lens flare if the light hits a certain angle, french flag is needed.
3. Some softening of the image (at least for my FD)
4. Cannot focus at infinity at the 35mm end from f2.8-f5.6
5. Zoom lens is no longer parfocal. So you can't do zoom shots!

I paid almost $500 for the speedbooster because the review for the $188 zhongyi lens turbo was terrible.
I was planning to buy more speedboosters for my nikon lenses and my GH2 but I have since changed my mind.
Reason: I'm spooked by the infinity focus problem likely caused by a wrong flange distance. Quite satisfied with my current kit of fast primes.
I can justify the FD speedbooster for my zoom because it restores the actual focal length of the FD35-105 which covers wide shot to close ups for run and gun situation. But I'm sad to losing the parfocal feature or the lens.
In total, I spent around $900 for the speedbooster+lens: In combination, I got around 35-105 f2.8 equivalent.
(in addition to the 50mm-150mm f3.5 when the lens is used with a $30 kosong adapter)
This compared to over $3000 if I went with 2 sony alpha 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200f2.8.

Thanks Bamboo,

I think for the time being, I save the $900 and get myself a motorised slider instead ... :)

Will post that in another thread.

Thanks again
