$10/hr? Really... Is this how you value your proposal memories? Might as well get your family members do the phototaking :devil:

Hi, the fee quoted is not a reflection on how I value my proposal memories but just that I am not familiar on the fee to engage a part-time/freelance shooter :). The task will be relatively simple, just to shoot on the special occasion. My initial planning is to get my friend to do the phototaking but if the fee to engage a part-time/freelance/student shooter is acceptable while having the shooter to gain more experience on assignment and build up his/her portfolio, then why not? I will be open to any comment and suggestion :)

"Gain experience" "build portfolio" "exposure"

Lol...

My friend, before you get further flamed by the other members in this forum, please understand that while your intentions are good, what you're offering to pay is not really an amount that would attract anyone to do the work that you're requesting to do.

NOBODY, not even students, part timers or freelancers, would want to work for $10 an hour. You have to factor in the fact that the photographer you're hiring is taking his time to do this job for you. You have to factor in his transportation costs, the hours he needs to edit the photos after the shoot, the cost of equipment rental (if any) and also any other additional stuff you require him to do.

Basic fact is you are buying his time, so if you're serious about capturing memories and need to engage a photographer (freelance or otherwise), it should start around $100 an hour onwards.

So please, change the amount on your post or delete it before you get further flamed by others around here.

To able to charge for an any amount of money for their service, which mean the photographers/videographers posses something that is required, not just gears, knowledge, skills, and also creativity, business sense, integrity, responsibility, customers service etc.

you are looking for someone inexperienced, so which mean you willing to settle for less, so can you afford to settle for less on this "special occasion"?

I guess you can, since you want to ask your friend to do it for you in your first thought.

but let me ask you this question; 50 years later, if you still around, how much would you be willing to pay for this, if you can rewind the time?

==========================================

lastly, to TS, your "special occasion" is not a birthday party, which you can afford to throw a party and cerebrate every year, you only want to do it "ONCE" and for all. so think carefully if you want to keep the sweet memory of this "special occasion" can last a lifetime.
Oh, btw, the memory it WILL last a lifetime, regardless is sweet or sour.

and anyone who interested to take up this assignment, think carefully, to you, this is just a project experiment, school project, portfolio building, extra pocket money, opportunity to test your new gears.
ask yourself this, do you want to let others take you as guinea pig on your "special occasion"?
if you are not up to par for this, please walk away.
