FREE room & food -- Come practice photography/ videography @ Wedding (Sat, 23 Feb)

I am having my Chinese wedding dinner on Sat, 23 Feb. I like to invite ANYONE of you who are free and has the interest to come and practice your photography or videography skill at our wedding day and dinner.

We have a Sony camcorder (handycam), if you prefer to practice videography, you are welcome. We can do the editing of the video files ourselves after you take the event. :bigeyes:



Benefits:

- I will get a car to drive us around Singapore to locations where we shall be "filming". Meet at about 9am. Ends at about 3pm, then rest to get ready for dinner at 7pm.

- We have our own dresses/ coat sets.

- You can stay in my house for FREE if you like, I have my own house in Tanjong Pagar, it shall be reserved for Photographers/ Videographers for the nights of Friday and Saturday (22 and 23 Feb), no one else in my family shall be staying there on those 2 nights.

- Since you are my photographer/ videographer, you are invited to feast at my Chinese wedding dinner, at my expenses, as a Thank-You for coming to take pictures or video. I know you would still be busy taking photos/ video, I can arrange you to sit at a good table where you can eat and still take photos/ video.

- We shall want copies of the photos from you in CD(s), please not later than the following Sat, 1 March. No or minimal (if can see big dirt etc) editing is required. This is because I do not live in Singapore with my parents, I need to take the photos with me to go back.

- We prefer that you can meet up with us a few days before the event so that we can do a briefing of the location, the event, who are our parents, grandparents, bribesmaids, groomsman, etc.

- If you are interested, honecall sms to me your contact number to 65-90013202 (ONLY sms, please do NOT call as I am overseas), and I shall call you back with my international calling card to arrange.

billpepsi, this is an offer especially for those who are new in this industry and like to practice or expand profile. It is just coming to snap snap snap, and good food (hopefully). Of course I would want to give a small ang pow for the time and effort spent. When you are new, you want people to pose for you to practice to up your skill right? anyway, even if no one respond, is ok with me also. so if u say, free labour, somewhat you are right, yet not so right too. as long as i did not force anyone to do for me, i think is not an offend right? I agree with you, Lycia. It's a great opportunity for people like me to learn the basics of wedding fotografi. And it's great that u r giving them (and me) such an opportunity. I kn0w someone who wants to try out with the videography though. I'll ask him whether he wants to come along.

guys..look at it as another photo shoot. instead of having to pay for models you get to shoot for free with food thrown in. i'm sure some of you happy give photos to the models so i don't see this as any different.

I have to close this now, because I have received a few responses and shall be using the photographer(s)/ videographer out of the responses. :light: For privacy reasons, I shall not be revealing who are the ones coming.

It looks like we might have 2 or 3 photographers and 1 videographer, I am going to have to arrange 2 cars for 9am~3pm session. The wedding dinner is in Jurong, may have to have you guys take an MRT there. I can try to arrange for my friend(s) to pick you up, but if not, if need to take taxi, on my account.

You-all photographers are really generous with your help and so ready to up your skill.

thank you for your encouragement. you know? for offer like this, we have to be ready that the photos may turn out a bit different than if we had engaged a professional for our BIG day, but since we are getting a good deal, we must be prepared for this risk, therefore it is a two way thing, right? I am thankful and appreciative that many of you have come forth to offer to spend the day with us. I think that if this becomes a trend, it can only help the photography industry to become a better professional place, because you guys, especially the new ones, would have many opportunities to work with real wedding couples, and up your skill. Maybe some of you might not agree with me somehow, this is just my thought.

I am flexible with how you guys want to do it in my house, if you are my photographer/ videographer. most important thing is that, my photographer(s) and videographer who are going to "film" us on Sat must be able to get good and ample rest the day and night before so that he/she can be fully charged up for a whole day of work the next day. As for vodka, i do not recommend getting high or drunk, but for "happy" consumption, can leave it after the wedding dinner. And if all of you guys know each other, I do not mind that you have a party on late Sat night or Sun (check out time is 3pm), as long as my house is cleaned up and packed up nicely after that, and no neighbours are inconvenienced.

Congrats.

For many reasons, wedding couples would like to save cost on their wedding expenditure in many ways, this including wedding day photography, I can understand that, anyway, have or don't have photos, good or bad photos are all belong to the wedding couples, others has noting to say. wedding couple has the rights and free will to do whatever they think it is appropriate.

Just want to highlight one issue to you, when things come FREE, many people will take it very lightly, and believe since it is FREE, they will have less obligation to comply, less responsibility, and since it is FREE, both parties can't be too demanding also.

This has nothing to do with photography or professionalism, just a observation on human behaviors.

Thanks for highlighting the issue to me, you are right, i agree with you, if it is free, cannot demand, and i do not intend to, i want it to be a fun time for everyone. actually, my husband and i are already married on 7.7.07 overseas, this is a dinner for our relatives and friends in Singapore, I am easy about it. this is not to say, i won't do my homework. i would talk to them and see their works, if any. The most important thing I'd look for is the attitude instead of experience: friendly? hardworking? really want to learn? interest in photo/video is really high? etc... See, the young ones today, may not have anything to show, but could become one of the best photo/ video artists later on. We all need the chance/ time to get there. Thank you for the highlight, it lets me think of the point. Good point.

Just a word to those photographers/videographers out there:

Please do take this seriously and not screw up their wedding shots. As much as it's their 2nd wedding dinner here, it's still a once in a lifetime event after all.

If you haven't got much skills yet, I suggest you better start to read up and try to practice a little bit.

Anyway, all the best to the couple, and congrats...
