Fort Canning 21 Mar 2010

This ELP is, I must say, also very tempting.... Siao liao lah...

Get another 20D to mod lor .. so easy ..

Then you need 2 DR-1

one to sling the 1Dsmk3 and 1Dmk3

the other for 20D mod R72 and 20D mod ELP

I really need to take a picture of you when you are all GEARED UP !!!!

Due to intense pressures from my kakis, I present my virgin IR shot. This was taken before I meet them for the Fort Canning shot which majority CMI. Gotta shoot more

YEAH!!
Finally!!

Back to Fort Canning...

Many people whom I know are travelling to Japan this period end of March and beginning of April.
I am not sure exactly what they are looking for.
But I strongly suspect maybe they are seeking something that we can easily find back home here at Fort Canning...

Erm... here is another one with a little more depth.
On PP:-
Blue - I push hue all the way to extreme right, saturation almost to right, Lightness medium.
Cyan - instead of desaturating completely, I left some blue-ness to it.
Red - hue pushed all the way to the right to give the trunks the green colour, increased saturation far right, pull back the lightness so that the barks look more natural.

Maybe ask David?

limwhow : 20D with Hoya R72
Vngks: D60 with R72 equivalent
AlexK: D70 with R72 equivalent

Used Hoya R72 for 20D since the filter thickness is almost the same as the camera's original filter.
But it's a bit difficult to get a good Hoya R72 filter these days, so we used an R72 equivalent for D60 and D70.

If you're not happy with the effect, just pass me back the cameras. I will be getting a wide range of filters next month. You can choose what ever effect you want.
(Just top up a bit for the filter cost ;) )

The filter thickness will be the same as your camera's original filter and comparable to the cost of an ELP filter.

After we went gallivanting up north at Woodlands, eastward at the sea side, south-bound at Peninsula....
Again, back to Fort Canning once more.
Here, we turned back towards where we came from... it was drizzling...

Actually, fatigue, as I begin to know a little bit more on how to play with my conversion, and also to recognise under what lighting, what exposure, and what scene to shoot to capture the various types of colour, I am beginning to achieve my colours a little better.
Hehe... I am beginning to develop a love towards my Hoya R72....
Let me continue to play with it and stretch it to its limits...

Thanks fatigue

Will talk to you this Sat alittle more before you mod the D50 ;)
But it from what you said it seems that I have not much choice but to go for the R72 equivalent ..hmm maybe try the ELP :dunno:

Here's a sample of D50 with ELP:

Thanks.. also had a look over at Wurdelak thread ..as he also mentioned that he is using ELP
I like what I see, .. let's do the ELP

So guys at least we have one cam that is differently mod .. we all can do a comparison else nothing to poison each other with

We walked right to the front of Fort Canning park.
The rain clouds were still thick, and thus I could capture no sky, but only the clouds.

I did a Split Tone adjustment in ACR before opening up in PS: Shadow colour increase to blue at 230, and saturation to 80%, and for the balance, I pulled the bar towards the shadow by 30%.
This would ensure that when I did a channel swap, the foliage came up golden yellow.
Further adjustments:

  1. Added a layer of Hue/Saturation
  2. Red: Saturation -16, Lightness +43 [this kept the pavilion and the foreground grass as white as I could]
  3. Yellow: Hue +40, Saturation +90, Lightness +64 [this simply makes the leave more golden]
  4. Magenta: Hue +121, Saturation +94, Lightness +16 [this gives the sky on the upper right hand corner the colour]
  5. Cyan, Blue and Green all no change.

ON AH...!!

I tried the ELP and my experience with it paired to the D70s.... AF is great as David has mentioned. Especially good if you like doing IR close ups or macro.

Example of a 100% crop from this image.
Colours are also wonderful and not as difficult to squeeze out as in the case of R72.

Its a good choice if you like playing with false colour processing.

pat33, you have a beautiful example here.
Thanks so much for sharing with us.
This ELP is indeed a beautiful filter.

In fact, being so new to IR, I am currently still trying to see how to squeeze more colours from each photo.
