I have a sigma ef-500 super. When I tilt the flash upwards on-shoe, is it true that ADI and TTL is disabled, and that it just works at full power? What about Wireless offshoe mode?

When bouncing or in wireless mode, the flash defaults to TTL only...... ADI works only when the flash fires directly at subject. Cos ADI measures the distance of the subject and background from the lens..... if the flash does not face the subject then the calculation would be incorrect, hence it defaults to TTL for a more accurate reading of the light condition.

BTW< I'm interested in the EF-500 also, the 5600HSS Is rather expensive. So how's the flash? Compatible? Results? What body do u use? I'm using a Dynax 7. Does the EF-500 come with a LCD panel behind a la 5600HSS??

Thanks a lot!

The Sigma flash works fine with my Dynax 5. It tends to overexpose a little when in darker environment with the subject less than abt 1.5 meters with non-ADI lenses, but with the diffuser on, it works pretty well. ADI is really useful, with ADI lenses I get good flash exposure. Plus it comes with a LCD display behind too. My friend has a 5600HS, it looks and feels more substancial, but feature wise, i believe it is almost the same.

Also got another question abt the Sigma flash. If I use it as slave, what is the max synch speed?

U have to read the flash manual to find out. It's flash dependent rather than body dependent.

Problem is the I can't find the flash synch speed for the Sigma 500 EF super in slave mode... Does that mean in slave mode the top shuttle speed is my dynax 5 top flash synch speed?

Hmm....... the slave flash is triggered by the built-in flash..... so I don't know if the transmission by the built-in flash also contains any metering information...... otherwise, the slave will probably fire at the safest sync speed which is usually 1/125 sec lor............ hey, any experts can help with this?

Actually do u need to know the sync speed of the slave? U use the slave only in studio usually or in situations where your light source can cast ugly shadows...... these are usually relatively low light situation mah....... so syncing tends not to be a problem right?? Anyone actually use wireless set-up outside a studio?
